Your narrative voice / Your narrative stance

A talk by Tim Storm
Teacher/Editor, Storm Writing School

A lot of advice governing line-level writing is dependent upon the narrational approach you’re taking with your story. Though it’s worth wrapping your head around general suggestions (like “show, don’t tell,” avoid passive voice, cut adverbs, and others) there are exceptions and loopholes for almost every “rule.” Why? Because your narrator has a unique relationship with your POV characters. Listen as we discuss how your narrational stance determines a lot of what you “should” or “shouldn’t” do with your writing.
